Chasing Excitement: Where to Go for Thrills at Yas Island Abu Dhabi

Speed, chase, race, climb, float, dive, drive, and fall — if these are your preferred trip or holiday buzzwords, you must visit Yas Island Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Yas Island, home to multiple theme park offers, is one of the 200 islands in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. It’s a perfect destination for adventure-seekers because it has a racetrack, an adventure hub, and four world-class theme parks.

Read on to learn all about the exhilarating experiences that await you at Yas Island Abu Dhabi.

1.    Yas Marina Circuit: The Racetrack

Do you love watching Formula One races on television? Then you’d love to catch an actual Formula Race in person.

Time your visit to the UAE capital to coincide with the Abu Dhabi leg of the Formula One races. Get tickets to the race from Yas Marina Circuit, the home of the Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Even better, stay at the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, a Marriott luxury property located right at the doorstep of Yas Marina Circuit. It’s the place to be (outside of the actual racetrack) for any motor sporting fan.

The rev of engines and the vroom of racing cars form a thrilling tapestry of sound that makes the ideal backdrop for an F1 race weekend and an avid F1 racing fan.

Can’t make it to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November? It’s okay, and there’s still fun to be had. You can drive a race car and take it for a spin or ride shotgun in one and let a racing pro show you how it’s done.

Instead of racing around the circuit, you can drag race on a rented Chevrolet Camaro at the track’s 4.1-km drag strip. You can also proceed to the North Circuit to drift on a Chevrolet Drift Taxi. If circuit-racing, drifting, and drag racing are not your thing, you can go kart racing at the YAS KARTZONE instead.

2.    CLYMB Abu Dhabi: The Adventure Hub

CLYMB Abu Dhabi is an architectural wonder, with its unique, jagged silhouette formed by irregular and outwardly jutting angles. Its design is inspired by the UAE’s rugged, rocky, and mountainous landscape, and the building’s façade is a clue to the adventures waiting for you inside.

There are two main activities at CLYMB. They are indoor skydiving and indoor wall climbing.

Indoor Skydiving

Get yourself and your party indoor skydiving tickets to enjoy CLYMB’s record-breaking indoor skydiving facilities.

CLYMB’s flight chamber has a diameter of 32 feet, more than twice the standard diameter (14 ft) of most of the world’s indoor skydiving flight chambers. It has a height of 104 ft, making it the tallest indoor skydiving tunnel in the world today; the typical indoor skydiving wind tunnel is much shorter, ranging from 10 feet to over 60 feet.

The biggest in the world, the CLYMB indoor skydiving flight chamber requires 16 fans for lift, four times the standard number of fans used in other flight chambers.

Indoor Climbing

CLYMB Abu Dhabi also has the largest indoor climbing wall in the region. Whether you’re a climbing novice or an expert, there is something for you at CLYMB.

CLYMB has five walls. There’s The Boulder, which is 9.88 ft tall and 187 ft wide. This is the fun wall, and this is the place to start climbing if you have never climbed before.

The Beginner is more than one story high at 18 ft tall. This wall is for those who want their beginner climb to be a little more challenging.

The Intermediate is 33 ft tall. It is more than two stories high and is for climbers with more experience.

The Advanced is 72 ft high. This is where the pros and advanced climbers tend to gravitate.

Finally, The SUMMYT is the tallest wall of all. Towering at 138 ft, it’s the wall every advanced and pro climber wants to conquer.

Do you need prior experience to enjoy CLYMB’s walls? Some wall-climbing experience is ideal, of course, but you can be an absolute greenhorn and still have the best time climbing walls. CLYMB has instructors on hand to teach you how to climb.

3.    Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, the first-ever Warner Bros.-themed amusement park, showcases the entertainment and media company’s film and television characters. Think Tweety, Road Runner, the Jetsons, the Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, and Bugs Bunny. These are just a few of the cartoon characters the theme park brings to life.

Do you love DC Comics’ Superman and Batman? Warner Bros. World has lands called Metropolis and Gotham City, inspired by these two superheroes. If you love Harry Potter, you’re in luck. A Harry Potter-themed land is coming soon to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

By the way, this theme park spans 1.65 million square feet and is the largest indoor theme park in the world.

4.    Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi features Ferrari-themed rides, dining options, and a dedicated shop. It’s safe to say that you’ll love Ferrari World Abu Dhabi if you love racing and Ferrari.

Ferrari World is where you can ride the world’s fastest roller coaster, the Formula Rossa. Its seats are patterned after Ferrari F1 race cars, and the ride can go from 0 to 149 mph in under five seconds.

Formula Rossa is not the only roller coaster ride worth checking out in Ferrari World. There’s the Flying Aces, a military biplane-themed ride that holds the record for the highest non-inverted roller coaster loop.

The Turbo Track straps you in for a steep, vertical climb and heart-racing, zero-gravity fall.

The Fiorano GT Challenge, meanwhile, lets you experience what it feels like to race other cars, as two roller coasters with Ferrari F430 Spider-inspired seats run in speed on parallel tracks.

5.    Yas Waterworld

Do you love both speed and water? Yas Waterworld will not disappoint. The largest waterpark in Abu Dhabi, it has some of the most exhilarating water slides this side of the world.

Try the Bandit Bomber, an inverted roller coaster that will have you screaming out every time it seems your feet won’t clear the obstacles.

How about a 10-story speed slide? That’s what you get with the Jebel Drop. If you want a high-speed, free-fall experience, get on the Liwa Loop. Finally, the Bubbles Barrel, home of the largest sheet wave, is another must-try.

6.    SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi has the biggest aquarium in the world. However, it offers more than sightseeing and marine animal interactions.

If you love thrills, a visit to SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is worth it just to ride the Manta Coaster. There’s nothing quite like it. After all, this record-breaking coaster ride offers the first zero-gravity flip-out and the first twisting double-down dive in the world.

You can also look forward to its airtime moments; the negative G-forces it creates will make you feel like you’re floating an astounding 17 times.
