Tests of Professional Competence of Workers started in the First Phase

Starting July 1, 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Manpower and Social Welfare will commence Tests of Professional Competence of skilled workers.

According to Akhbar 24 of Web News that the Ministry of Manpower is gradually going to introduce Professional Competence tests. The test is for the technical staff at each institution.

Final Round of Professional Competence

The final phase of the test is going to be in January 2022. Abdullah Abu Saneen, the deputy minister for manpower, said that the ministry is running a campaign.

The objective is to increase the productivity of skilled workers in the country’s labor market. Additionally, it is to increase productivity and prevent an influx of unskilled workers.

Procedure for the Professional Competence test

Thousands of careers are divided into 23 significant occupations as part of the Vocational Test Program. There are two tracks for the professional test. To begin, each skilled worker must go through a professional test in their home country.

In order to accomplish this, Ministry is in contact with international testing facilities. Moreover, from now on Saudia is going to give skilled visas only after passing the test. However, the second test is going to take place in collaboration with local centers in Saudi Arabia.

Which Company workers will give test in phase 1?

In the first phase, skilled workers from large companies and firms with more than 3,000 employees are going to give tests. Afterward, restructuring of companies with 500 to 2,999 is going to start.

Estimation of the number of employees of 50 to 499 companies is already in place. After that, a test on the skilled workers of these small companies that fall under category (a) will be conducted. Typically, these will be small to medium-sized companies with between six and 49 employees.

Finally, workers from small enterprises coming under category (b) are going to give test for their skills. These will be small businesses with five employees or fewer.
