Iqama Extension for Free Till 02 June 2021
On January 2, 2021, Saudi Arabia announced that all the borders would reopen on January 3, 2021 (Sunday). After this airlines will be able to take passengers to and from Saudi Arabia under the strict guidelines. However, due to the excessive spread of the global pandemic Saudia decided to extend the date to May 17, 2021. Also, they have provided free Iqama Extension for all expats, stuck in their home countries due to travel ban.
However, The Saudi Interior Ministry opened all its international borders on (17-05-2021) Monday between 1 pm on Sunday and Monday.
Iqama Extension for Expats
After the opening of international flights on May 17, 2021, In the direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Passport Department has started the free Iqama extension and extension of residence visas and exit visas of foreigners residing abroad.
According to the Saudi news agency SPA, the expansion will occur under the automated system until June 21, 2021, without any fees or financial competition. According to the decision, the finance minister has issued a directive to implement the royal decree of extension.
The Saudi government is extending residency and visas as part of a government policy to address the Coronavirus problem.
The Saudi government is working to take the necessary precautions for locals’ and foreigners’ health and safety. They are making sure to minimize financial and economic losses.
The passport department has said that the Iqama extension and extension of residence and visas will be done under an automated system. Also, It is done with the collaboration of the National Information Center.
The points made by the Passport Department regarding the extension state that “MOFA will extend the residency and exit visas of these residency holders abroad to prevent the spread of the coronavirus upon arrival.”
