What Is The Purpose Of Providing A Fingerprint Facility On Smartphones?
Saudi Foreign Ministry Secretary Tim Al-Dosari said that the primary purpose of providing fingerprint facilities on smartphones to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims abroad is to facilitate them.
According to the Saudi News Agency, the purpose of the new service is to make the process of obtaining visas easier for Umrah pilgrims and pilgrims coming from abroad.
With the new system, Umrah pilgrims and pilgrims will be able to upload their fingerprint and eye scan data through their smartphones without visiting embassies for fingerprint verification.
The digital system will get launched in countries where Umrah pilgrims will be able to obtain electronic visas. Visitors obtaining visas through the online system will not have re-fed into the fingerprint permit system when they arrive in the country. They will only need digital verification at the immigration counters through the system, and the immigration system will be complete.
It is noticeable that Saudi Arabia is the first country where the fingerprinting facility provides visa holders through smartphones.
10 Million Visitors Will Get Benefit In The First Phase From Fingerprint Registration On Smartphone App:
The process of collecting fingerprint records on smartphones will get a start in phases. In the first phase, 10 million pilgrims and Umrah pilgrims will benefit, while by 2030, this number will reach 30 million.
In a program on Saudi TV Al-Akhbariya, the Foreign Secretary said that Saudi Arabia is the first country to provide this facility to pilgrims and Umrah pilgrims who obtain visas on smartphones.
With this facility, the aspirants will no longer have to visit the Saudi embassy or fingerprint centre in their home countries but will be able to scan their fingerprints or eye marks and facial features through a particular smartphone app while staying at their homes or offices. This app will send their data to the system, making the process of obtaining their visa easier.
Smartphone Fingerprint Facility Will Boost The Visa-Issuance Process:
For the past few years, Umrah pilgrims or visitors have had to submit their fingerprints to the Saudi embassy in their home country, after which they were able to get a visa.
Saudi embassies had outsourced the facility to submit fingerprints, but even then, the applicant had to go to a centre where there were long queues for visa applications.
The new program will make it easier for Umrah visa holders or pilgrims to upload their fingerprints into the ministry’s system from the comfort of their own homes.
However, the ministry did not release details of the countries where the system will get launched.
