Well living in KSA is not as easy we think if anybody wants to drive his/her car on road. Then he/she must need a motor vehicle periodic inspection document this is also called “FAHAS”. “FAHAS” is a certificate that provides the surety of your vehicle that it can drove on the road while ascertaining your and others’ safety on the road. If you are living in KSA and driving a car on road without having a “FAHAS” certificate, then you will be in a complete mess because if a traffic police officer caught you while driving a car on road without having the “FAHAS” certificate then he will charge a fine of almost 150 SAR against you

Guide To getting “FAHAS” MVPI

So, to get your vehicle “FAHAS” certificate follow the below procedure step by step.

1-Wash Your Vehicle:

Before going to the Motor vehicle periodic inspection center makes sure your vehicle is in good condition it means to clean your vehicle thoroughly without leaving a trace of dirt or smell because the first impression on the inspection officer can lead to passing your vehicle MVPI test.

Wash carefully each side and don’t forget to wash the Tires of your car because Tires are the most important part of the inspection procedure

And don’t ignore to clean the oil leakage from the beneath because if a car or vehicle is clean and in good shape then it’s sure that it may pass by the MVPI inspection officer.

2-Locate the Nearest MVPI Center

Now after washing your car thoroughly locate the nearest “FAHAS” Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection center to your home. It is important to locate the nearest center to your home because if you choose a center that is far away from your home then your car may get dirty or got some technical error after doing so much effort. So, to get your “FAHAS” procedure done easily choose the nearest “FAHAS center from below.

3- “FAHAS” MVPI Timings

The timing of the “FAHAS” centers is almost the same regardless of the location. The timings are written below:

Choose the timing from “DHUR” prayer to “ASR” prayer because in the morning the center is totally crowd. If you want to ease in your work, then choose the timing after 1:30 PM.

4- Required Documents For “FAHAS”:

Well, in general, there are no such documents are required for “FAHAS” but the most important required documents are mentioned below and make sure you have these documents when you visit the “FAHAS” center otherwise your vehicle inspection would not be done made.

1- Driving license

2- Istamara (Vehicle Registration document)

3- IQAMA (If a person is not a resident of KSA)

4- National Id card (If a person is a citizen of KSA)

5- “FAHAS” MVPI Test Fees

The “FAHAS” MVPI test fees for all the vehicles are different it depends upon the type of vehicle. If it is a motorbike, then the “FAHAS” fees will be comparatively less than the SUV or any bigger car. Below there are the “FAHAS” test rates of different vehicles including VAT and re-inspection fees.

6- “FAHAS” MVPI Inspection Procedure

When you will reach any “FAHAS” center as mentioned above you will need to step out of the vehicle after that you will pay a fee of inspection according to your vehicle type and inspection number. If the inspection is happening the first time, then the fee will be large but if you are doing re-inspection due to some error in your vehicle then inspection fees will be less than the original. After paying the inspection fees your vehicle will be passed through 4 manual inspection stages where your vehicle is inspected by inspection officers at 4 stages. The process of 4 different stages is written below.

(A) Inspection Of Lights and Brakes

The first inspection stage through which your vehicle will be passed out is the inspection of lights and brakes. In this inspection stage, all type of lights in your vehicle will be tested to check either they are working or not it. If the lights will be working, then the inspection officer will write “working right” on the inspection paper. After that your vehicle brakes will be tested if they are working properly then he will also write “working right” on inspection paper. After which the vehicle will move to the next inspection center.

LIGHTS INCLUDING (HEADLIGHT, HAZARD LIGHT, TAILLIGHT)

BRAKES INCLUDING (NORMAL BRAKE, HAND BRAKE)

(B) INSPECTION OF TIRES

After the first inspection stage, the vehicle will be passed to the second inspection stage, where all tires will be checked thoroughly by an inspection officer. If you have tires that are in not bad shape or are in good shape, then there is no need to worry because they will pass through the inspection stage and the inspection officer will write “working right” on the inspection paper.

(C) Inspection Of Carbon Emission

After the second inspection stage, the vehicle will be passed to the third inspection stage where the carbon emission will be checked thoroughly by an inspection officer. If you have emission exhaust pipes that are in not bad shape or are in good shape, then there is no need to worry because they will release the normal amount of carbon through exhaust pipes and the inspection officer will write “working right” on the inspection paper.

(D) Inspection From Bottom

After the third inspection stage, the vehicle will be passed to the fourth inspection stage where the bottom will be checked thoroughly by an inspection officer. If you have a clean bottom that is in not bad shape or is in good shape, then there is no need to worry because there will be no oil leak marks on the bottom and the inspection officer will write “working right” on the inspection paper.

7- “FAHAS” MVPI Test Result:

After the car passed through the inspection stages then you will be given a result paper in which all the details will be written on it either “FAHAS” is passed or failed.

(A) Test Result Positive:

If the test result is positive, then you will see passed on the documents which you will receive and get your car under 10 minutes with a sticker or front windshield which will verify that your vehicle passed out the “FAHAS” test. You will also receive a “FAHAS” certificate which will save you from any sort of fine while driving on the main road.

(B) Test Result Negative:

If the test result will be negative, then you will be given 2 weeks a total time span of 14 days to re-inspect your vehicle. You will get a document stated the errors in your vehicle. You must make sure there will be no error when you go for re-inspection.

8- Check “FAHAS” Validity

Unfortunately, there is no method to check the Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection online, but you can check its validity on your “FAHAS” certificate, or you can also verify the date by seeing your sticker. According to Article 26 of KSA, the “FAHAS” should be done after 3 years

9- “FAHAS” Expiry Fine:

If you are using an expired “FAHAS” whose date is passed out, then you need to renew it in time otherwise if you are driving with expired “FAHAS” and caught by any police officer at any point then he might charge you with almost 150 SAR which is a lot of amounts.
