Notably, Zeffe and fellow student Ariana Karzai secured their positions in the top three of all the participants in the GITEX challengers, a prestigious competition held during GITEX 2021. GITEX is an annual global event that takes place in Dubai, renowned as one of the largest showcases for future technology. The event provides a platform to explore the latest advancements in tech products and offers valuable learning opportunities.

During the event, twelve students from WSO had the opportunity to participate in the Youth Camp at Dubai World Trade Center. They engaged in two interactive tech workshop sessions and were introduced to prominent global tech brands. Additionally, they witnessed the excitement of live startup action on stage through the Supernova Pitch Competition. This experience allowed the students to gain exposure to the dynamic world of technology and entrepreneurship.

Caroline Comenho’s educational journey began at GEMS Dubai American Academy (DAA), where she attended from 3rd grade through 12th grade. The experiences and education she received at the academy have greatly influenced her personal growth and development. After high school, Caroline enrolled at UCLA for her undergraduate studies. She selected Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology as her major and chose to minor in Bioinformatics. In the fall of 2020, she embarked on her PhD in Systems, Synthetic, and Quantitative Biology at Harvard University.

Caroline attributes much of her personal and academic growth to her ten-year experience at DAA. She acknowledges the academy’s nurturing environment and its commitment to diversity and inclusivity, which contributed to her personal and professional growth as a scientist. Caroline expresses her gratitude to the teachers who encouraged her curiosity and fostered an atmosphere where she felt comfortable asking numerous questions and exploring academic subjects with creativity.
